From When? Beginning of the movie, after being told Barb wants to put her in a home.

Personality: Nica doesn't get out much or have much contact with people beyond her family. She'd went to college at one time, but never completed...judging from how her mother seems scared she'll leave, it was likely due to her mother. When a package is delivered to their house, the delivery man is clearly flirting with her, something Nica is thoroughly enjoying. Up until her mother tells her he was 'just being nice', as though her wheelchair made her less desirable.
Her hope is to one day have her family look at her like everyone else, as though she isn't different. To her eyes, there's nothing she's lost or a reason to feel sorry for her. She was born paraplegic so she doesn't remember walking or running, doesn't long for days before her chair. At times she wishes she didn't have it, but she's hardly helpless.
Her greatest fear though is being pushed aside and forgotten by her family...something Barb plays into when he wants to put her in an assisted living home. Her mother had made sure the house she lived in was able to be run by her. Between the lift and the low counters, she's fuly capable of doing anything in the house she wants to.
Her hope of coming to New Dodge though is a new start. A chance to get out and remake herself in a place where her family can't reach her to hold her back. She's already lost her mother, the last thing she'd want is to lose the rest of them and being treated like an invalid in a home. This way, she has the hope of going home one day and taking back control of her life.
Why do you think your character would work in this
setting? Nica is tired of being trapped. She
loves her mother, but it's clear to her that her mother
would never let her leave or even date...when offered to
come to New Dodge, she couldn't resist and accepted the
offer.
If your character entered the game unwillingly, tell us how
they'll react to the setting and whether you think they
might choose to stay.
What will your character do for work?
Anything she can do sitting, lol. Nica is very functional
though, so she could do most anything if she put her mind
to it. Maybe in C&P.
Inventory: Her wheelchair and a backpack with
clothes and her medications.

Third-Person Sample: So far she'd been offered a job a couple of jobs, but hardly anything that would keep her thinking. She had to keep herself busy, especially her brain, it kept her from getting bored. Rolling her wheelchair into the saloon, Nica pushed herself over to a table in the corner and waved down a server. "A beer, please."
Reaching behind her, she pulled out a few papers from the pouch attached to the back of her wheelchair. Spreading them out on the table, she started setting them in piles. Her morning had been spent collecting job applications, even to jobs she had no interest in.
Running a hand through her hair, she took a deep sigh before grabbing a pen to fill out the papers. She wasn't interested in half of these, but they'd help pay for her room. Glancing up when her beer was brought to the table, she smiled warmly at the guy. He was cute...if all the guys were as cute, she'd have no problems doing menial work. "Thanks." Tapping her pen on the table, she quietly goes back to her applications, shuffling them into 'want' and 'will take' piles. She'll turn in the wants first; working at the C&P, the stables, welcoming at the brothel, so on and so forth. If nothing came from those, the other stack would be turned in. Taking orders, acting as a secretary...the jobs she would only take because she needed the money.
There was the school that Malcolm mentioned though. Not for the first time, she wondered if they needed teachers for some classes. She was certainly more than capable. Glancing back, she waved the kid back over. "Hey, I heard there was a school here. Do they need teachers or will they give you money while you're attending...I may not have gotten my degree, but I'm sure I could teach anything needed."
First-Person Sample: Dear Alice,
I love you, you know I do, but I had to go away for a little bit. Know that you're always in my thoughts baby, no matter how long I stay here. I just need you to do me a favor, okay? Take care of mommy and daddy for me, they're going to be needing you. Especially mommy, she won't show it, but she's hurting and needs you to hug her lots.
I'll be home before you even know I'm gone, I promise. When I get back, we'll make a nice dinner for everyone, just you and me. If daddy asks, tell him that I have some savings in the flour jar under the counter with the microwave. Remember though, it's only if daddy asks. I love you sweetie, but I have to go now. Talk to you real soon.
